NHS Provides Opportunity for Clubs to go to Disney Land

One of the happiest places on Earth is Disneyland; however, it can break your bank account. A trip to DisneyLand is offered at Lake Havasu High School on two separate occasions. The first being Disney Grad, where seniors get to go on a trip to Disney in order to celebrate their Senior year. Another chance is the Y.E.S. conference, which is provided to those involved in clubs and allows students to learn leadership skills.

Conference allows National Honor Society members and select clubs to learn leadership skills. “I had an amazing time making new bonds and going on DisneyLand rides. I also spent about $300 on myself,” said sophomore Charlotte Upshaw.

This year sophomore Charlotte Upshaw went to DisneyLand to attend the Y.E.S conference. “The Y.E.S. Conference was about four hours and we had a Disney leader with us. He walked with us and showed us different aspects of leadership, how to build yourself up and how to make a brand for yourself.”

The conference is only offered to select clubs; luckily, this year National Honor Society (NHS) opened it up to a wider variety of clubs. The high school students that signed up to go to the Y.E.S. Conference went on March 6 and arrived home on March 8. Upshaw isn’t involved in NHS, but was able to go because of the opportunity for other club members.

“I feel like it was an awesome experience. It helped us meet a lot of new people because I didn’t know many people from the NHS. It was a great experience to build up our leadership skills even more.”

The Y.E.S. conference gave Upshaw many unforgettable and irreplaceable memories that she will always remember. “My favorite experience throughout the trip was going to the Soarin over California ride. The leadership tour showed us what we can look forward to and what it means to be a leader.”

After three days, it was time to go back home and say goodbye to DisneyLand. Next year, Upshaw said she wanted to return to the Y.E.S conference. “I will definitely go next year if my bank account can handle; it was definitely worth it.”
